Film and Art | |
form an extravagant union in Rainer Kirberg’s new fiction feature The Sleeping Girl
both as subject matter and as an unconventional means of financing the film. Three well known artists are helping the film make it to the big screen with their etchings.
Günter Brus, a multi-talented virtuoso known also as
the founder of the world famous Vienna Actionists.
Marc Brandenburg, whose work for the Berlin club
Berghain has made him one of Germany’s most important contemporary artists
Wolfgang Müller, ingenious dilettante, avowed Icelander by choice and the brains behind the legendary art group Deadly Doris (Die Tödliche Doris).
The Berlin Edtion Kröthenhayn has published 50 prints per work by the three respective artists. We would like to thank each artist most sincerely. A print may be acquired for the one-time benefit price of
€250 per page (plus shipping and packaging). This is a strategy for refinancing some of the
initial costs borne by the production team of The Sleeping Girl.
The Sleeping Girl demonstrates that alternative financing models can produce high quality.
After starting successfully at this year’s Berlinale, the film is moving on to the international
festival circuit, beginning with BAFICI, or Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente.
